Selective main circuit breakers – SMCBs
Selective main circuit breakers provide overload and short circuit protection while supporting coordination with other protective devices. Their current limiting and selective tripping characteristics help isolate faults without unnecessarily interrupting unaffected circuits.
They are suitable for installations where continuity of supply is important, such as data centres, hospitals and office buildings. Devices rated for overvoltage category IV can serve as main protection and isolation devices in suitable distribution or metering panels. ABB selective circuit breakers can operate independently of an external power supply or neutral connection, as specified for the selected product.
High performance circuit breakers – HPCBs
ABB S800 and S500 circuit breakers serve demanding industrial and renewable energy applications. Their compact design provides short circuit protection, with products rated up to 50 kA breaking capacity and 125 A. The ranges offer options for applications such as PV string boxes and OEM automation panels, with accessories for remote operation and monitoring. Ratings and settings depend on the selected device.

ABB S800 and S500 high performance circuit breakers serve industrial and renewable energy applications. Their compact design and short circuit interruption technology provide an alternative to fuses in suitable applications.
